Jan 14,2017, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ 826 Valencia (Mission Center)
Taught by Cathryn Bales Open to 12 students, ages 11–13 A two-week workshop January 14 & 21 Saturdays, 3–5 p.m. “Excuse me for the length of my letter, as I have not had the time to be brief.” -Constantin Stanislavski In this workshop we will discuss this seemingly contradictory idea. How is it possible that a smaller piece of writing could convey more meaning? We will explore the magic of brevity, and how what is not said significantly alters the meaning of what is said. We will read, discuss, and try to get at the heart of some astonishing short poems, and then write, revise, and share our own. Space is our friend, and any personal experiences are the topic for exploration. This workshop aims to be a playground for finding your unique, poetic voice.
